The second part of our series on AI and copyright takes us to the United States, where the legal landscape is rapidly evolving. We are delighted to welcome Mark Lemley, a renowned expert from Stanford, who will help us decipher recent developments in the United States and understand their implications for Canada.
Mark Lemley is a professor of law at Stanford, where he directs the Stanford Program in Law, Science, and Technology. A specialist in intellectual property, technology law, and AI, he is the prolific author of more than 200 articles and 11 books, and is one of the most cited legal scholars in the world. His work has had a major influence on case law, being cited more than 350 times by courts, including 19 times by the US Supreme Court. In addition to his academic career, he is a partner at Lex Lumina and has argued more than 30 cases before federal courts, as well as co-founding the legal analysis platform Lex Machina.
