The court below - contrary to all expectations - held that the renewal term of the U.S. 1909 Act, and the termination provisions of the U.S. 1976 Act, operate to terminate grants of copyright for U.S. works not only in the U.S. but in foreign jurisdictions as well.
The presentation will explain the specifics of this pending case and its context in U.S. and international law, its implications for Canadian rightsholders, and potential ramifications for Canadian rights reversion under Section 14 of the Copyright Act.
Speaker :
Joshua Graubart is a copyright attorney based in New York City. He represents both rightsholders and end users in both dispute and transactions, focusing on cross-border and international copyright matters.
