Description:

There is a trend in the IP world towards specialised tribunals.  Canada is part of this movement: in March this year, the Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Canada announced a pilot project for the creation of three specialised chambers in the Court, including one for intellectual property and competition law.  Come and hear the architect of this project who will be joined by the judge of the Court of Appeal for England and Wales who was at the heart of the reform which changed what was the Patents County Court into what is now the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court in the United Kingdom.  Both justices are also looking forward to entertaining questions from the audience on the issue.

Speakers:

  • Lord Richard Arnold, Court of Appeal for England and Wales
  • The Honourable Paul Crampton, Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Canada

Moderator:

  • Prof. Ysolde Gendreau, Université de Montréal
